Q / A Sheet
The Recreational PLUS Program is a program created and designed for the recreational player who desires more from their recreational experience. It is a compliment to the team and league play. It is not designed to be a replacement to the recreational experience.
Question:
What is the purpose of the PLUS Program?
Answer:
The PLUS Program has multiple aims. First and foremost, it is designed to provide an ideal skill development environment for players and families that want more advanced training opportunities as part of their recreational soccer experience. With small group sizes, players who all have strong basic skills for their age level, and a structured curriculum that will challenge young players to stretch their abilities, the PLUS Program provides an environment in which players can develop. The PLUS Program is designed to help take DASC recreational players from having strong basic skills to having excellent basic skills plus more sophisticated techniques and game awareness. In addition to helping players make significant strides in their own skill levels, PLUS provides an avenue for players and parents to meet the DASC professional coaching staff, several of whom have played at the collegiate level, and many of whom have advanced level coaching licenses and/or coach at the college level. The PLUS Program also, provides a natural environment in which to learn more about the benefits of DASC professional coaching, to meet other families with similar levels of interest in soccer, and to talk with DASC professional coaches about the DASC competitive soccer program.
Question:
How does the Recreational PLUS Program differ from the existing DASC free clinics provided by Frank?
Answer:
The PLUS Program is designed to provide a more intensive training program for a smaller group of players at each age level who want opportunities to stretch their abilities to new levels. Because all players in the PLUS Program must have strong basic soccer skills for their age group, it will allow DASC professional coaches the opportunity to run training activities that are more sophisticated than those possible in most recreational team settings or in the free clinics conducted by Frank. The PLUS Program is different in that it will lead into opportunities to participate in other activities as chosen by the PLUS Staff. The PLUS Program is designed to provide players and families with the opportunity to explore some of the experiences of the DASC competitive soccer players and to ask questions about the DASC competitive soccer program. However, the primary mission of the PLUS Program is to help DASC recreational soccer players with high levels of interest in soccer to develop their own soccer abilities to new levels and to further encourage a love of the game.
Question:
How is the Recreational PLUS Program different from the DASC competitive soccer program?
Answer:
The differences between the DASC Competitive Program and the PLUS program are expressed in the amount of time committed to the training, the traveling involved, and the financial commitments. The PLUS Program is a compliment to the Recreational experience. It is designed to meet the needs of those players who want more professional training and who want to be in an environment with other like-minded players.
Question:
Is the Recreational PLUS Program just a way to convince players and parents to take part in the DASC competitive soccer program?
Answer:
Absolutely not. The Recreational PLUS Program does provide an excellent opportunity to meet the DASC competitive coaching staff, but the primary purpose of the Recreational PLUS Program is to allow players with already more developed skills a venue in which to develop those skills at an accelerated pace, due both to the overall level of skill and motivation among participating players and to the expertise of the coaching staff who will lead the program. For players and families interested in the possibility of playing competitive soccer at some point, the Recreational PLUS Program will provide a chance for players and coaches to get to know one another and for families to learn more about DASC competitive soccer.
Question:
Does my child have to try out to take part in the Recreational PLUS Program?
Answer:
The Recreational PLUS Program is an advanced training program for players in the U12 – U19 age groups. Because it will emphasize more challenging activities appropriate for players having already developed a strong basic skills foundation, players will be required to demonstrate readiness to participate in the program. Readiness will be assessed by the DASC professional coaching staff in various ways, such as through feedback from recreational coaches and direct opportunities for professional coaches to see players’ current skills. The strong basic skills prerequisite will be followed to ensure that players are ready to participate in and benefit from Recreational PLUS Program activities and will not feel frustrated that activities are too far beyond their current abilities. Players may enter the Recreational PLUS Program at any time that their skills have developed enough to benefit from participation and evaluated by the Recreational PLUS Program Staff.
Question:
How much does the Recreational PLUS Program Cost?
Answer:
$20 per training session for the first six sessions for $120.00 or $15 per training session for all twelve sessions for $180.
